The Selous Scout operated externally including in Mozambique and interacted with members of the Portuguese army. As often happened, kit was exchanged and to the nature of operations, members often used different uniforms.

This item belongs to Supt Keith Samler (number 6657) - one of the 19 incredible BSAP Special Branch Officers attached to the Selous Scouts. Keith has the distinction of being one of only 2 police officers awarded parachute wings (Wings number 1081), he is the only police officer who has operational jumps in the Rhodesian Military. Keith was deeply involved in the activities of the Selous Scouts including pseudo operations and external operations into Mozambique and Zambia including an operational external parachute deployment on Operation Vodka in Zambia.
